MIDVIEW SOCCER LEAGUE - Grafton, Ohio
Midview Soccer League is a non-profit, 501 3C recreational soccer organization based in Grafton, Ohio. We rely on volunteers to act as board members, coaches and to help the league be what it is - for our kids. MSL would like to thank everyone who has volunteered and
                                                         supports Midview Soccer League.

We would also like to thank the Lorain County Metroparks for their help in creating our permanent home on Chamberlain Road. It's a beautiful facility and please remember, keep our fields clean and do not park on the grass.

VOLUNTEER!
If you would like to volunteer with  Midview Soccer League, we have many small or big things you can do. We can use volunteers to work in our concession stand, help maintain the fields or our garden. You may have a special talent or service
                                                              to offer.

SILENT SATURDAY
One select Saturday each season, LCSL will conduct a special game day called Silent Saturday. The concept of Silent Saturday was actually developed by  NOGSL's Carl Pavolich and Al Soper and is now maintained on a seasonal basis by numerous leagues throughout the country.

The concept is simple, play a soccer game where the players and referee are in control of the game. Parents and coaches are not permitted to be talking to players on the field with the exception to cheer a good play either offensively or defensively. Coaches may yell out only when alerting a referee to a substitution. Players on the field are thus allowed to communicate with each other without being yelled at by parents to move here, or by coaches to pass to another player. They are allowed to make their own decisions on the field.

Young referees are allowed to develop their referee skills without the constant complaining of coaches or parents.

At the NOGSL Tournament 91% of players age 12-14 stated their favorite game after winning the tournament was Silent Sunday.

The only change we have made is we do allow head coaches only of U7 and U8 teams to communicate with their players on the field. Again U7 and U8 Head coaches only. Players not on the field are spectators and should not be yelling out coaches instructions for the coaches. The day is for the players and the development of their communication and on field skills.

Any coach who advises a referee that they have agreed to not follow silent Saturday or did not know about it or simply are not following the rules of silent Saturday will immediately be warned by the referee that this is a rule and as such must be followed. Should ANY additional issues occur, an immediate Red card will be shown to that coach and they will be asked to leave the field and receive an additional ONE game suspension. Further, should any parent not abide by the Silent Saturday rules, they as well as the coach of the team they represent will be warned.  Should additional violation occur, the head coach and the parent will thus be red carded and will be asked to leave and will receive an additional ONE game suspension.  Yes, per the LCSL coaches code of conduct, the parents are the responsibility of the head coach.

Should any of you not be sure of any rules or have questions, please feel free to contact your LCSL Representative.  Referee assignors, please make sure all referees are reminded should they red card a coach, that we will need a written report and their player pass should be taken and forwarded per the game card.

Thanks again to all for your support and let's have a great Silent Saturday.
